Latest News (1st July 2010)Turnover in the shop has leap upwards now the summer has arrived, with ice creams & cold drinks selling well. We are also stocking more cigarettes, and bread & cakes. The Post Office is open from 9 to 12am, on 5 days a week (not Weds or Sunday). Information about the shopThe shop is open from 7-1 and 2-5 each day Mon-Sat and 9-1 on Sunday. It is good to see the shelves full and customers coming in, buying a few things and having a bit of a gossip as well. Just what a village shop should be, except that this one is entirely financed by the local community (over £5000 was raised) and run by a small team of keen volunteers assisting a part-time paid manager. We have managed to stock even more that was expected, for example we have a lot of local produce
Plus of course the usual frozen, chilled and tinned goods. Also available are free-range Tillingham eggs, and also Bulls eggs from Bradwell (and jams/chutneys) on a Weds afternoon only, because Dave & Ruth Bull are two of our volunteers. There has been a vast amount of effort put in by a small team of volunteers, who deserve a lot of credit for the way that they have stuck to the task. Some volunteers are also coming forward, but we need more, so please respond on the Feedback form if you can help. The phone number of the shop is 01621 776274 The AGMThe Annual General Meeting was held at the village hall on Sunday 21st March at 3 pm. There was an excellent attendance of around 30 people, who heard an update on the history of the shop and future plans. Click here for more information from the AGM.
